Questions Data Buyers Ask

The Data

What is in each recording?

The left-eye video the player saw at the game’s frame rate; 6DoF head and controller poses for every video frame; linear and angular velocity; tracking-quality flags; controller button, trigger and stick input where the capture route records it; session events such as tracking loss and recenters; and hand joints where the headset tracked hands. Everything shares one capture clock. Full specification.

Are the poses measured or estimated from video?

Measured. Our recorder captures the headset’s own tracking from what the game asks the headset for. Only the head and the two controllers are measured; the arms and upper body drawn in our demo are estimated between those points.

Is it real-world video?

No. It is the game’s own rendered picture, exactly what the player saw. That suits game world models, VR research and studios, but it is not a substitute for real-world camera footage. How it compares with head-camera video.

Which games are in it?

More than 15 commercial PC VR games so far, with most hours from a few of them. We share the current title list with buyers on request. Custom orders are recorded in games we are cleared to record, or in your own game.

Which headsets were used?

PC VR headsets, mostly Meta Quest 3S linked to a PC, plus Quest 2 and Valve Index. Standalone headset games are not covered.

How much data is there?

Hundreds of hours that our reviewers have watched and accepted, growing every week. Ask us for current figures. Larger or game-specific orders are recorded to order.

Is there audio?

Not by default. Game audio can include other players’ voices, so packages are silent. Tell us if you need audio.

Players, Consent and Privacy

Who are the players, and are they paid?

Adults, 18 or older, mostly in the United States, who sign up at egogaming.ai, pass a review and sign a player contract. They are paid for every hour that passes our quality checks.

Did the players agree to their data being licensed?

Yes. Each player agrees in writing on the website and again in the recorder before anything is captured, and the consent says recordings can be licensed to AI research partners. We keep a consent record for every session.

Is the data anonymous?

It is pseudonymized: no names, emails, dates of birth, locations or payment details, and session times are given as a date at most. VR movement can identify people, so we treat it as personal data and the license forbids any attempt to identify players.

What happens if a player withdraws?

Their files come off the download page at once, and the buyer must delete every copy within 30 days and confirm it. Models already trained do not have to be retrained, but may not be trained further on that data.

How do you check quality?

Every session goes through automatic checks for complete files, tracking quality and dropped frames, and a person reviews it. Reviewers mark idle time, menus and headset-off moments, and reject sessions that are idle, in the wrong game or by the wrong person. Sessions under a minute are never sold.

Formats, Sample and Delivery

Which formats do you deliver?

RLDS (TensorFlow Datasets) and WebDataset, or plain Parquet, CSV or JSON tables with MP4 video. LeRobot and HDF5 are planned; tell us if you need one. The layout, such as clip length and picture size, is agreed per order.

Is the data annotated?

Either way. You can have it unannotated, as recorded and reviewed, or annotated, with labels added. What the labels cover is agreed for each order.

What is in the free sample?

100 action clips of VR gameplay from several games, in RLDS and WebDataset, with the data card. We email a download link that stays valid for 14 days. Request it here.

How is data delivered?

Through a private download link that lasts 14 days, with a data card, license terms, a session list, a column guide and checksums.

Licensing and Buying

Can you record our own game or specific tasks?

Yes. With custom recording you choose the tasks and the player mix, in your own PC VR game or one we are cleared to record. You get exclusive rights for 24 months and pay only for hours that pass our checks. How custom recording works.

What can we do with the data?

Research, train, test and evaluate AI and VR products, and publish findings and trained models. You cannot resell or share the raw data, identify anyone, or use it for surveillance, hiring, credit, insurance or identity systems.

Is it exclusive?

Custom recordings are exclusive for 24 months. Ready-made packages and academic packs are non-exclusive: others may license the same data.

What does it cost?

It depends on custom or ready-made data, annotation, volume and exclusivity. Tell us what you need in the request form and we will quote. The sample is free. How licensing works.
